Letter From a Young Lab Technician

Dear Bob,

Look, I know it’s late but I feel the need to apologize again for that whole debacle we had back in London.  Mister Morris was hurrying me along, and the whole world was watching!  For years I’ve blamed myself for destroying our visual history of Normandy’s invasion, and the ridicule for my mistake follows me everywhere I go.

And that is why I’ve moved on to data recovery.  It’s a lucrative business–no one seems to back up, not even the professionals.  You know, when people ask me if I ever feel bad about melting your negatives, the answer is of course I do.  But why do pencils have erasers?

Say, while I have the chance, let me ask you: film or digital?

My birthday wishes to you and the boys at Magnum.
